Work and family life is running much faster these days and at times we deserve a well earned break to relax and de-stress. Outdoor walking is a fantastic way to unwind and feed the soul with fantastic views, good company and a little exercise to get your endorphins going.


Stress can lead to long term health problems. Research shows that stress can cause illness varying from back stomachs to heart disease and many more. Therefore it is important to take the time out to relief the symptoms of stress even when you feel overwhelmed with things to do. A walk does not have to take hours – it can be a simple stroll around the park which makes all the difference to your day.


By introducing a new habit of walking for ten minutes every day you will feel more refreshed and focused to plough through all the jobs you have to get through. Morning walks are beneficial as it helps awaken your mind and sets you up for the day ahead. Make sure whilst you are out that you are dressed comfortably for the cold or warm months. By choosing outdoor clothes carefully you will ensure that your morning walks are comfortable and enjoyable. Don’t forget if you are doing a more challenging walk, hiking shoes are very strongly advised.



Often when stress sets in we tend to spend a lot of time worrying about the problem or try to fix it. Often by taking time out in your day to revitalise and uplift your mood and level of relaxation it helps to refocus your body and mind. As we all lead busy lives it can be hard to find the time to go out walking. A top tip is to timetable time in your weekly schedule to go out for that all important walk. Many find that timetables are to schedule what we need to achieve in a week but it is just as important to schedule in time to do those things that we would like to do to help us feel happy and content within our lives.

They can assess how we live our lives, give advice on life coping strategies that means we can all be high achievers but most importantly, can help us achieve all of this without being stressed out. If stress gets hold of us it can make out family lives more difficult and less enjoyable.
